The senate is nearly split on whether to pass the proposed budget increase, which is partly why the proposal was tabled until next meeting.

Guest speaker Eric Barnard also spoke to the senate about a proposed 9.5 percent to the student life fee to help accommodate the necessary budget for the new rock climbing facility.

The fee would result in $80,000 going to the student life budget to help pay for more student jobs, staff and necessary training.

Safety committee reported Winona State received the Governor’s Safety Award for the second straight year for having the least amount of violence and injuries reported on campus.

Also discussed was the last blood drive of the year to be held in April.
