Football:
The Winona State University football team laced up their cleats for their away game in Minot, SD against the Minot St. Beavers on Nov. 16. The Warriors stepped onto the field with a 5-5 record and were hoping to end in a 6-5 record. Coming back onto the field with a score of 0-35, the Warriors heated up the field for the last two quarters earning 23 points. However, this effort was not enough from the Warriors which led to a final score of 56-23 and left them with an overall record of 5-6.
Women’s Volleyball:
Closer to Winona, the University of Minnesota Duluth hosted a volleyball game on Nov. 16 against Winona State. Sidney Paulson and Kenna Kornely led with 13 kills in this game. Notably, Ellery Apel played a career-high record and had 17 digs in the three sets played. With a 1-1 score going into the third set, the Warriors dominated the court and ended in a 3-1 win against UMD. With the final scores being 22-25, 29-27, 25-21, and 25-13, the Warriors finished their season before conference in a win. The Warriors finish the regular season with an 18-11 overall record and an 11-7 NSIC record. The team is scheduled to play their first round of the 2024 NSIC Volleyball Tournament at Wayne State on Tuesday, November 19.
