Next to churches being seen nearly every other street in Winona, there all also coffee shops that frequent the streets. As we are exiting the calm before the storm with finals on the horizon, coffee shop recommendations are crucial for all students during this time of stress. So, of course, today we will rate our favorite coffee shops all within walking distance from Winona State University’s Campus.
Blue Heron:
Coming in first, by far I might add, Blue Heron, in my humble opinion, is the best coffee shop to stop at. Whether you are going for a coffee (or matcha) to go or buckling down to write an essay, Blue Heron is the place for you. With a menu full of delicious and budget friendly drinks and meals, Blue Heron provides you with the fuel you need to study for finals. With baristas that always make you smile and an environment embodies the Winona community, this coffee shop that’s open from Wednesday through Sunday is a must visit before the end of the semester.
Acoustic Café:
Located downtown on second east, Acoustic Café is another great contender for a study spot during the weeks leading up to finals. Sitting down with nice cup of jo, a bowl of soup and sandwich, Acoustic Café is the perfect cozy environment that you need. With the wooden booths almost feeling like a church pew, Acoustic Café creates an environment that allows you to slow down, take a breath and continue the journey of preparing for finals.
Blooming Grounds:
You might think you are seeing double when you are headed downtown but do not fret. Blooming Grounds has not one but two locations. Blooming Grounds downtown location has spacious seating and quite an expansive menu. With the second location on Huff Street, Blooming Grounds Express, like Mugby Junction, offers a quick pick me up for students both inside with some seating and a drive-thru. With wraps, sandwiches and salads, Blooming Grounds is great spot not just for studying but also lunch.
Mugby Junction:
Don’t think Mugby Junction was forgotten. It may not be a destination that students can study at but it is a destination for a study buddy to drink. Mugby Junction is the perfect coffeeshop for a pick me up during the stress of finals. Only having a drive-thru, Mugby Junction supports your finals for a quick pick me up after a long day of class and studying. Take that break. Get that coffee. And the great spot to support your break is Mugby Junction, their baristas and that nice latte waiting for you.
These coffee shops are all within walking distance of Winona State’s campus and they all have coffee to put some pep in the step of both students and faculty feeling finals coming for them. Whether it’s a finals week study spot or a quick pick me up, the coffee shops around Winona are sure to have something for everyone.
