From March 18-20th , posters were displayed in a gallery called “Cultural Conversations” on the first floor of Darrell W. Krueger Library. “Who Decides Who I am?” by Lily Lund discusses their perspective as an adoptee navigating culture and identity. On the project they noted “As I wrote small snippets from past experiences of microaggressions or similar comments, I looked to other people’s autoethnographies regarding interracial adoption. I discovered that while my experiences where unique, I wasn’t completely alone in feeling lost and out of place.”
The “Cultural Conversations” Poster Gallery allows each student in the CMST 281: Intercultural Communication course to analyze types of communication through different perspectives, experiences, cultures, and identities by creating these projects.“How do Sports Media and Online Spaces Shape Culture Identity and Belonging through Media Relationships?” by Ben Molitor was one of those projects discussing how fans can find a identity with a team and feel a emotional connection. (Elly Herrick)In between by Fern Lupo explores what it is like to be mixed on the poster they write “In black spaces I tend to not feel black enough, while in white spaces I tend to not feel white enough.” These are only a handful of projects done by the CMST 281: Intercultural Communication course.
