Student Senate discusses funding requests, welcomes new senators at weekly meeting

Winona State University’s Student Senate introduced the newest members from the 2015 fall general election at the Thursday, Oct. 1 meeting, and the results were approved as the seven new members took their seats.

The results were freshman seats, Sean Wittenberg and Rachele French; junior seat, Amanda Figueiredo; and at-large seats, Duc Nguyen, Jackson Ramsland, Grace Lehr and Ivy Kuhn.

The Delta Sigma Pi fraternity requested $700 for the leadership conference they will be attending this weekend in Fort Wayne, Ind.  The fraternity said 14 members are going, which is double their highest number of members who have attended one of their leadership conferences. The money will help cover gas and registration fees, and the motion was tabled until this week when it will be further discussed.

Winona State’s MedLife requested $5,000 to help fund their service trip to Peru this winter. The motion was tabled until this week for further discussion.

Lastly, housing sign up for next year starts next week, according to the Residence Housing Association report.
