A new mental health service, Mantra Health, is available at Winona State University. This new service offers Winona State students the opportunity to have easy, fast, and fast mental health support through using their campus emails to sign up for Mantra Health’s website and downloadable app.
The WSU Mantra Health page details the variety of services are offered so that students are able to receive help in self-care, emotional wellness coaching, peer-to-peer support, therapy, ConnectNow which gives access to ‘in-the-moment support and problem solving with a mental health professional’, and 24/7 crisis support. Students are able to go through modules that give them exercises which help them to practice self-care and emotional wellness skills. While using the therapy, ConnectNow, and 24/7 crisis support options students are able to get in touch with mental health professionals who offer support throughout the year.
Erica Thomas, the Winona State Mantra Health Program Coordinator, notes how the platform has improved the accessibility of mental health support on campus.
“The platform is designed for easy access anytime, anywhere, making mental health support more convenient than ever.”
Thomas also details how useful the platform is, even if students don’t feel like they need support for their mental health.
“Mental health isn’t just about addressing crises—it’s about maintaining well-being and building resilience. Mantra Health offers tools to help with stress management, goal setting, and personal growth, which can benefit all students.” Thomas said. “Even if someone isn’t struggling, practicing self-care and emotional wellness strategies can make a huge difference in their academic success and overall happiness.”
Mantra Health is able to help students with the stress of classes and any other issues they may be having, even if they feel they don’t need it, through its wide array of services and ways to support students.
Kirkland RA and second-year student, Basia Schreiber, comments on how Mantra Health is helpful to students while dealing with the stressors of college and who have a difficult time going in person to get help.
“Residents and students don’t have to go to the IWC to get an appointment in person, now they can do it comfortably and safely on their phone in their own space,” Schreiber said. “They can get the help they need without putting extra stress on themselves.”
Schreiber compares how Mantra Health can be much more helpful to students through their own experiences with trying to get help on campus.
“I was urged to get help last year but because of different things I struggled to go in person,” Schreiber said. “Mantra Health is helpful because we can help them get set up and matched with a therapist or council from their room to get what they need. Even one of my residents said ‘so it’s like a dating app for therapists and councilors.’”
Whether or not a student feels like they need support for mental health, with a simple sign up for Mantra Health they are able to receive emotional well-being and mental health support that can help with the stresses of college life.
