Get to know the Editor-in-Chief: Matt Shalbrack

Well, I’m back.

Here we go, college round two, only this time as a Graduate Student. Luckily for me, all my classes are online. I’m working on my Sports Management Certificate this year.

In order to get to know me a little bit better (I feel like I’m writing an advertisement about myself), I’m going to give you 20 facts about myself.

1. I’m a diehard Chicago Cubs fan and I also am a big fan of the Denver Broncos.

Story continues below advertisement

2. I graduated from WSU in the spring with a degree in Mass Communication Journalism and a minor in Political Science.

3. I’m an only child.

4. I was born and raised in Racine, Wis.

5. I’ve been to two different continents, three different countries and 18 different states.

6. I’m 22 years old.

7. It’s one of my goals in life to make it to every single Major League Baseball stadium for a game. So far I’ve been to three (but I’ve toured two more).

8. I’m addicted to Fantasy Football and Fantasy Baseball. I also play Fantasy Hockey and Fantasy Basketball.

9. I have a plate and four screws in my right ankle.

10. I enjoy reading books. (Hardcover/ softcover, not ebooks)

11. I’ve only been to the ocean once and that was when I was in New Zealand last Christmas Break.

12. I really like the transition between Fall and Winter.

13. My nickname is Matty Ice.

14. I share the same birthday with actor Paul Giamatti, singer/ songwriter Uncle Kracker and skateboarder Geoff Rowley.

15. I get the same thing at Taco Bell every time I go.

16. I had a pet goldfish as a little kid and I used to take him out of the bowl and play with him. Then he died.

17. I can quote almost every line from the movie Grind with Adam Brody.

18. Skydiving was one of the most amazing things I have ever done… not to mention I did it over a national park in New Zealand.

19. I work in the Admissions Department on campus.

20. I just bought a 2009 Subaru Legacy. I’m really happy with it and I got a great deal on it!

Boom! There goes the dynamite. That’s me wrapped up into 20 facts.

It really does feel nice to be back again.

However, it’s always just a little bit weird seeing all the new people on campus after spending all summer on a deserted campus.

Go Cubs Go! I’m still always singing that amazing song, even if my beloved Chicago Cubs are in the basement cellar of the National League.

Whatdya know, there’s always next year.
