Early this morning, a student at the Winona Senior High School showed a school official a snapchat video of another student a reference to shooting up the school.

The Winona Police Department responded at 7:42 a.m. to the high school.

The 15-year-old suspect was located at his home in Winona. He was taken into custody.

The suspect will be referred to the Winona County Attorney’s office for threats of violence.

A press release from the Winona Police Department’s Chief of Police, Paul Bostrack, stated that the student who reported the video did the right thing.

“[The student] was very instrumental in bringing a quick and safe resolution to a very serious situation.” Bostrack said.
