Women’s golf places fourth

Winona State University Women’s golf team competed in the Southwest Minnesota State University Ramada Mustang Invite Saturday, Sept. 21 and Sunday Sept. 22.
Eariler in the week the Warriors sat in 10th place among the 14-team field after round one on Monday, Sept. 16 with a team score of 344 before shaving off nearly 20 strokes in the final round with a 328.
After taking ninth place among a 14-team roster at the Golden Bear Classic in Concordia the team looked to bounce back with a vengeance.
After the first round of the SMSU Ramada Mustang Invite, Winona State placed fourth out of 12 teams with sophomore Bree Downie leading the pack for Winona with a 79 (+7) tying for 12th place individually for the first round.
Downie finished with a 156 (+12) for the tournament tying tenth within the tournament.
Coming in with a 162 (+18) sophomore Alexis Bell tied 22nd within the tournament.
Augustana University took the overall win with a 608 (+32) total over the remaining 11 teams and having Minnesota Crookston trailing within the pack with a total of 786 (+210) during the invite.
Winona State ended with a 646 (+70) beating out eight teams and falling 13 strokes from the 3rd place (Minot State 633).
Winona State’s Women’s golf team is looking forward to improving and competing at the Warrior/V-Hawk duel in Winona at Cedar Valley Golf Course, Sunday, Sept. 29.
