Alayna Majkrzak (they/she) is a second-year communication, arts, and literature teaching major at Winona State University, and is the features editor and business manager here at The Winonan.  

This is their second year on staff at The Winonan, but their fifth-year writing for a newspaper. When they aren’t writing for The Winonan or doing homework, they enjoy listening to music, reading and watching video essays on YouTube. Majkrzak loves cold weather and their favorite thing to do is curl up in a sweater and write. They are very passionate about conveying truth through journalism and they are excited for what is to come this year from The Winonan.

The club provided a variety of stickers, pins, and candy for students to take. They also provided a QR code that links you to then petition to urge the WSU administration to provide accessible and affordable abortion access on campus.

From the beginning of 2023 till this August, around 1,915 library materials and resources have been challenged for a variety of reasons. In 2022, the number sat at 1,269 demands. When a ban is requested, the contents of the book are questioned and viewed by some people as unsuitable for certain ages or groups.
