The events offer a chance for students to interact with other students from around the world in an educationally-focused environment. Kristen Carrie works as a photographer for The Winonan.

Carrie is currently a senior at Winona State University majoring in Communication Arts and Literature Teaching and minoring in Communication Studies Teaching. Having lived in Winona her whole life, Carrie is excited to share the love she has for her hometown through her photography. Her dream job is to teach high school English with a small portrait photography business on the side.

In addition to working at The Winonan, Carrie serves as secretary of Winona State University’s chapter of The National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Her hobbies include binging nerdy superhero shows as well as photographing her beloved friends and family.

The majority of the students left the district out of necessity. According to Annette Freiheit, “Over half the kids moved out of the district, or their parents moved states, so that’s part of it.”
