According to the Take Back the Night foundation, Take Back the Night first started in America in the 1970s after incidents of violence against women gathered media attention in Philadelphia, San Francisco and Los Angeles. In Winona, Take Back the Night has occurred since the 1980s.

Kathy Mouacheupao visited Winona State University on April 5 to present at their Expanding Perspectives Speaker series. Mouacheupao spoke on her experieces growing up in Saint Paul, which is home to the highest population of Hmong people in the United States. As the child of refugees, she lived in an in-between state of Hmong culture and American culture.

Annual International Night: Crossroads of Culture
On Wednesday Nov. 2, International Student Services hosted an international coffee hour in Gildemeister Hall. This event is typically held on the first Wednesday of each month. The events offer a chance for students to interact with other students from around the world in an educationally-focused environment. Depending on what the students decide, the events can range from very casual to quite organized.

Xana Leum and Hanna Reichenberger competing in the 60m hurdles. The Winona State Warriors performed competed at the Mankato track meet last weekend on Feb. 10-11. One noteworthy performance was the 4x400, consisting of Regan Feit, Alyssa Larson, Brooklyn Schyvinck and Shereen Vallabouy. The four of them took first on Saturday for a facility record and the second fastest 4x400 in Warrior history.
