Hannah Hippensteel, Features Reporter

Hannah Hippensteel is a features reporter for the Winonan. She has enjoyed the three years spent with the Winonan and has worked to strengthen and diversify her writing subject matter and style. Hippensteel is a senior at Winona State and is a mass communication-journalism major with a minor in sociology. In life, she hopes to work as a columnist at one of her favorite magazines: Glamour, Seventeen, or Teen Vogue.

Hippensteel also serves as the Co-Campus Correspondent for the Winona State chapter of Her Campus, an online college blog written primarily by and for women. This is her fourth year as a staff writer for the chapter with over 130 pieces in her portfolio. She loves to write about personal anecdotes, movies, music, and pieces dedicated to her friends and family who inspire her constantly to share her voice and passion for writing. Additionally, she is the vice president for the Society for Collegiate Journalists (SCJ).

Students who attended the summit got to experience four different breakout sessions and enjoy a delicious lunch.

Award-winning director Davy Rothbart talks about his film “17 Blocks” on Oct. 22 in Winona State’s Miller Auditorium. Rothbart’s film was a part of the 2019 University Theme Film Series: Careers, Conflicts, and Callings. The film presented four generations of the Sanford-Durant family, who lived 17 blocks from the nation’s capital, but were set back by poverty, violence and abuse.
