Zach Bailey

Zach Bailey, Editor-In-Chief

Zach Bailey currently works as the editor-in-chief of the Winonan. This is his third year in the role, after having become the editor-in-chief during the 2017-18 school year. Prior to holding the position of editor-in-chief, Bailey held the positions of  features editor for the Winonan during the 2016-17 school year and the community reporter for the news section during the 2015-16 school year. Before working at the Winonan, Bailey worked for two years as both a reporter and editor for the Cotter Chronicle, the school newspaper of Cotter High School in Winona.

Bailey is currently in his fifth year at Winona State University, and is double majoring in Marketing and Mass Communication – Journalism, and minoring in Computer Science.

Along with working at the Winonan, Bailey is also an alumnus of Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity on campus, a member of the Society for Collegiate Journalists and works as a supervisor at Winona 7 Theatre and a bartender at Signatures Restaurant. When not at work, Bailey enjoys racing motorcycles, playing guitar and reading.

Winona State University alum and first-time author Robert Junghans visited Winona State on Saturday, Feb. 23 to promote the release of his first book. “Cloud Warriors” is a historical fiction set in two different time periods and asks the moral question is living longer worth the price? Junghans spoke in the Somsen Engagement Center to discuss his path to publication and inspirations as a writer.

Climbers from across the region visited Winona during the warm weather on Saturday, Feb. 2 to enjoy the Winona Ice Park. The park, created by the city of Winona through the Parks and Recreation department, has a new location to call home this winter. After multiple years on the west end of Winona, the Winona Ice Park is now located just off the Sugarloaf Trailhead near Sugarloaf bluff.
