In a field of six teams, including five NSIC squads, Winona State managed to card rounds of 320 and 324 to claim their position of third overall and second among the NSIC teams.

“Getting back on the grass is something that takes getting used to after four consecutive months of practicing inside,” third-year Marah Rothgarn said. “However, we are all accommodating to the weather and the grass we are competing in.”

The team’s excitement and determination to get back onto the course certainly showed throughout the competition.

Carly Moon would lead the Warriors, finishing in fifth individually. She opened the NSIC Preview with an 82 (+10) and followed with a 74 (+2), earning the lowest score recorded by any competitor during day two.

Toni Baldwin earned a top-20 finish with rounds of 85 and 84 to shoot a 169 (+25) while Marah Rothgarn rounded out the Warriors scoring with a 176.

“So far, the season has been going well, and I think our overall team scores have been improving,” Baldwin said. “As for how things have progressed each match, I would say the support we have for one another increases every time we play.”

Kessa Mara golfed as an individual in the event and carded rounds of 88 and 89 for an overall score of 177 (+33).

Meanwhile, the men’s golf team turned in their best three-round score of the season at The Mule, shooting an 871 (+31) as a team to claim a sixth-place finish.

The Warriors carded impressive rounds of 283, 287 and 301 to be in contention throughout the invitational and ultimately grasped sixth among a daunting field of 19 teams.
