Gabriel Hathaway

Gabriel Hathaway, Editor-In-Chief

Gabriel Hathaway (he/his/him) is the Editor-in-Chief of The Winonan as of Fall 2022. This is Hathaway's third year of writing for The Winonan. Previously, Hathaway has taken up the roles of Features Reporter, Copy Editor, and Features Editor.

Hathaway is currently in his fourth and final year at Winona State University. Hathaway majors in English Writing with a double minor in Journalism and Mass Communication. In addition to being the Editor-in-Chief of The Winonan, Hathaway is also the President of the Society for Collegiate Journalists (SCJ).

In his free time, Hathaway enjoys exploring Winona and getting involved in the community. Hathaway also enjoys binging TV and collecting cool-looking rocks with his fiancée.

Rachel Drenckhahn and Tyler Janssen were named as prize winners for Winona State Universitys annual Creative Writing Competition. Three different categories of fiction, nonfiction and poetry were available for students to compete in. Drenckhahn, a third-year English writing major, won both fiction and poetry while Janssen took the prize for non-fiction.

The Winona Fine Arts Commission is launching the Winona Poetry Walk on Oct. 31 outside of Blooming Grounds Coffeehouse downtown to commemorate local poets in Winona. To celebrate local poets, excerpts of poetry by local writers are stamped into the sidewalks.
