On Wednesday Nov. 2, International Student Services hosted an international coffee hour in Gildemeister Hall. This event is typically held on the first Wednesday of each month. The events offer a chance for students to interact with other students from around the world in an educationally-focused environment. Depending on what the students decide, the events can range from very casual to quite organized.

The annual coronation and talent show began on the night of Oct. 17 and saw the crowning of Joe Grizzle (fourth from the right) and Kaileigh Weber (second from the right) as homecoming king and queen. The audience got to vote live on who was chosen as royalty based on a pageant-style event during the night.

Next week, the Warriors head to Bemidji at Chet Anderson Stadium for redemption after losing to the Beavers 34-24 at the beginning of the season. Bemidji is 9-2 overall, only losing to Augustana University and Mankato so far this season. Whoever wins this game progresses to play the #1 seed, Angelo State University, who are 11-0.

Pictured: second-year Warrior Carly Engelhardt at bat against University of Minnesota-Crookston Golden Eagles. In game one, the Warriors swept 8-0. Fourth-year Warrior Liz Pautz took the circle and received strong support from her hitters as well. Second-year Abbie Hlas and third-year Libby Neveau both threw homers in the first inning, scoring second-years Teaghen Amwoza, Engelhardt and fourth- year Warrior Marissa Mullen, scoring on the two hits for a 6-0 lead at the end of the first inning. Overall, Winona State had eight runs with ten hits and no errors. Leading the way was Neveau with five RBI.

Housing and Residence Life threw the “Spring Formal” event after students at Winona State University approached Housing and Com- munity Mentor students with the idea for a dance. After receiving student feedback earlier in the semester, WSUSS learned students who use the meditation room space do so mostly for religious practices and as a ‘safe space to decompress.’ Winona State’s Student Union approached WSUSS to ask for financial assis- tance of $25,000 to put towards renovating the meditation room.
