Winona State University Student Senate met on Wednesday, Jan. 27 in the North Lounge of Lourdes Hall to discuss allocating funds and use of study spaces.
The meeting started with the president’s report, giving updates on the Advising Task Force and pedestrian safety, which was a concern that came up last semester.
The chemistry club requested $2,363.20 to fund their 2016 ACS National Conference trip. The motion was passed and will be voted on at Wednesday’s meeting.
Student Senate also motioned to allot $3,000 to Midwest Music Fest (MWMF) for tickets, it was also motioned that Student Senators cannot receive MWMF tickets from Student Senate to prevent any conflicts of interest. The motions were passed and will be voted on at Wednesday’s meeting.
The use of Baldwin Lounge was also a topic of discussion, as there has been “a lot of people dominating the use of study rooms in Baldwin Lounge,” according to the agenda, and it was proposed the student union activities director implement a way to better monitor the use of Baldwin Lounge’s study rooms.
The motion was passed and will be voted on at next Wednesday’s meeting.
