On March 1, Women’s, gender, and sexuality studies professor Mary Jo Klinker invited Gina Favano and Suzanne Hogan, the hosts and creators of “Back Channel Radio”, to discuss the importance of the Winona Boathouse community. Favano is a member of the Winona community and has preserved the history of Winonans and the island of Latsch. Both Favano, Hoganm and Klinker discussed the importance of the Winona Bouathouse community as a way to kick off Womens History Month.

The Winona State Tennis team played in Florida over spring break against five different teams.
Winona State finished the week off 6-3 overall and 3-0 in the conference. They are set to play against the Minnesota State University - Mankato Mavericks on Friday, March 17 and Sunday, March 19 in the Winona Tennis Center.

The Glass Menagerie production at WSU featured a small and close-knit cast and crew throught their four performances of the show. Caracterization was especially important because of this small cast.

“Clothes do not equal gender. I have personally felt the pressure of if I wear tight clothes I am going to be perceived and called a girl, but sometimes I just want to wear tight clothes,” one anonymous student said.

Exploring gender nonconformity, students and faculty weigh in

Dr. Anton Treuer came and spoke about his experiences as a member of the eagle clan of the Ojibwe tribe. Treuer shared some powerful quotes that demonstrated the way he feels it is like to live in this modern world as a native person, while still staying true to his culture.

For $20, students of Winona State University have gotten the chance to climb the Winona Ice Park thanks to Outdoor Education & Recreational Center. The ice is located on the bluffs and is farmed by ice framers why hose water over the walls to freeze.

On Wednesday Nov. 2, International Student Services hosted an international coffee hour in Gildemeister Hall. This event is typically held on the first Wednesday of each month. The events offer a chance for students to interact with other students from around the world in an educationally-focused environment. Depending on what the students decide, the events can range from very casual to quite organized.
